About units
INSUNITS is a variable that is a label saying: "This drawing is in inches" or something else of course.
When inserting shapes from tables you want a conversion from millimetres or inches to the units you use.
The app tries to do this for you but may need extra information. For direct entered dimensions, no conversion is needed. For data from tables scaling decisions are performed by the program. Some scenarios, your current drawing settings (type INSUNITS <enter> to retrieve the setting):
- INSUNITS is 0, unitless. This means that a 1" square bar has the same size as a 1 mm bar in your drawing.
- INSUNITS is 1, inches. This means that a 1" square bar is 1 and a 50.8 mm bar is scaled back to 2.
- INSUNITS is 4, millimetres. This means that a 1" square becomes 25.4 mm and a 20 mm bar stays 20.
- INSUNITS is different. Scaling is performed accordingly.
Since tables contain information about units, most situations can be solved. But it is mandatory that INSUNITS is set correctly, unless additional settings are made...
Setting units
Please consider the following:
- Setting UNITS: If you always work in inches or millimetres, you can overrule INSUNITS and set this to 1 (inches) or 4 (millimetres). If set to 0, INSUNITS are used. This makes the process independent of settings in drawings from third parties.
